　　modesty is one of the national characters of chinese people. there are many stories about modesty in the history of china. however, some people think that in the influence of the western culture, modesty seems not so important as before. i can't agree with them. i think it's the quality veryone should process. many young people do not realize the importance of modesty. they are sitisfied with a little success, so that they don't try hard to make progress. besides, some others have too high an opinion of themselves, totally ignoring others' suggestions and advices. all these will lead them to a bad consequence in the future.

　　謙虛是中國人的傳統(tǒng)美德，中國歷史上有很多關于謙虛的`故事。然而，有人卻認為受西方文化影響，謙虛沒那么被重視了。我不同意這種說法，我認為謙虛是每個人都要學會的。很多年輕人沒意識到它的重要性，他們滿足于自己的小成就，不追求進步。此外，另一些人對自己評價過高，完全忽視他人的建議。這些都將導致對他們將來有壞的影響。

　　for you to be modest, the first thing to do is to have a full understanding of your deficiencies. no matter whom you are and no matter how talented you are, you are unlikely to be all - powerful. in fact, you will always, in spite of your talents, find things about which you feel helpless. besides, you should also admit other people＇s strong points and try your best to learn from them. if you keep these two points in mind, you are on the right path to developing modesty.
