My Sister
I have a sister. Her name is Alice . She is one year old. She has short hair. She has a fat face. It looks like a big red apple. She has big eyes and a small mouth. She has only one tooth, but she can eat cookies. Her arms and legs are fat, too. But she can crawl very fast on the floor.
My sister is very naughty. She doesn’t sleep at night but sleeps at daytime. So my mother is tired to take care of her. She always crawls here and there, sofa, bed, chair, everywhere she likes to go. She likes to play with the toys. Bricks are her favourite. She likes to make different shapes with the bricks. Sometime it’s a house, sometimes it’s a bus. I think she is a smart girl. She likes to play with me. She likes my story-telling. She always asks me to tell stories for her.
There is a cartoon “Present Sheep and Mr. Wolf” on TV. My sister likes it so much. Every time when I turn on the TV, she always says “present sheep” to me, asks me to watch the cartoon. And every time she hears the theme song of the cartoon, she will sing and dance on the floor. Actually she can not sing and dance, she just shakes her little body to show us she likes it very much. She is so cute.
My sister is smooth-tongued. She likes to call me “sister”, call my dad “daddy”, call my mom “mummy”. She often call us many times a day.
In my eyes, my sister is naughty, lovely and smart. I like her.

In this day and age, as a pace of social development, a various kinds of clothes are winning tremendous popularity in some countries. But in the meantime, it has drawn a great deal of attention to the problem that whether more people should be encouraged to wear national clothes everyday. As far as I am concerned, people should not wear them per day.
In the first place, it is generally acknowledge that traditional clothes of some countries are unconvenient for national residents to work. It is a fact that some of their costumes, such as kimono of Japan, cheongsam of china and Korea-style cothes, they are too long and big to work. In particular policemen and doctors, these careers are hard to be done if they are wearing such clothes.
In the second place, not wearing national costumes doesnot mean their citizens forgetting their history and traditions. Some countries history and traditions are still studied by young children. Take Japanese as an example, they always knee down when they are eating meals.

For every player, standing in the stage of Olympic Game and then winning the golden medal are their biggest dream. People also pay much attention to the golden medal and they put great hope on the players. Winning the first place is perfect but every player is a hero.
In China, people paied much attention to the golden medal before. Many players worked so hard to fight for the first place. When they did not stand on the highest place, people were so hard on them and thought they were losers. Most people misunderstood the spirit of sport, as they only cared for the golden medal.
But today, people change their attitude towards golden medal. People keep their eyes on the instant news of Olympic Games. When the media reported the result, even the players did not win the medal, a lot of them showed their respect to the players and inspired them to keep moving on. It is such a good change for people realizing the spirit of sport.
Every player derserves to be respected and given applause, no matter what the result is.
Is Failure a Bad Thing?
Failure is a common thing in our daily life. For example, sometimes we fail to pass the examinations. On other occasions, we are defeated in sport games. And there are times when we fail to do more satisfactory work. So it is safe to say that every one of us must have encountered failure of one kind or another.
However, different people have different attitudes towards failure. Some people lose heart when they come across failures. They seem to think that it is the end of the world. Others, on the contrary, don’t take failure seriously. They seem to think that failure is first step to success.
In my opinion, what really counts is not failure itself, but our attitude towards it. If we are afraid of failure and yield to it easily, we are bound to have one failure after another. But as long as we have confidence in ourselves and learn something from failure, we’ll certainly go from victory to victory. So I’m never afraid of failure, or I firmly believe that “failure is the mother of success.”
Last month, President Obama pledged nearly half a billion dollars toward the development of solar and geothermal energies. But what about wind? A team of scientists estimates that wind turbines in the continental U.S. could produce 16 times more electricity than we currently use. They present their data in the current Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
We all know that wind can be harnessed to do work. But this power source can be a bit fickle: today it might gust, while tomorrow could bring barely a breeze. So how much can we count on the movement of air to meet all our energy needs? The scientists used data from satellites, balloons, and aircrafts, to estimate wind speeds around the planet. They excluded cities, forests, and ice-covered areas, which would all be hard to harvest.
Crunching the numbers, they concluded that a global network of land-based turbines could make 40 times more electricity than the world currently consumes—even if they only operated at 20 percent of their capacity.
People may balk at the sight of a sea of wind turbines. And flying wildlife may be bollixed by the blades. But wind power’s benefits may blow away its problems.
