聽了媽媽的這番話，我并沒有往心里去，而是繼續(xù)認(rèn)真的背誦演講稿，心想，我一定要得獎。
時間不知不覺的來到了這一天，我心里多少也沒底，因?yàn)椴⒉恢榔渌麉①愡x手的實(shí)力如何。不過，我對自己還是有信心的，希望自己能取得一個不錯的成績。
那天下午，我早早的來到了比賽場地。發(fā)現(xiàn)來了的同學(xué)們都在認(rèn)真的看自己的演講稿，我找到一個比較靠前的座位，邊看演講稿，邊等待比賽的.開始。
兩點(diǎn)整，比賽正式開始。主持人Vivian宣讀了比賽規(guī)則以及評分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。然后讓我們到評委席去抽簽決定比賽順序。我本以為自己能抽到中間的位置，沒想到竟然抽了個第二�？磥淼煤煤冒l(fā)揮了。
很快就輪到我了，我從老師的手中接過話筒，走上舞臺，先鞠了一躬。之后稍作停頓，開始了演講。我演講的內(nèi)容是介紹我的學(xué)校生活，就像在家里無數(shù)次練習(xí)的那樣，內(nèi)容早已背誦的滾瓜爛熟，我并不感到緊張。只是，中途不知為什么，話筒好像出了問題，時好時壞，使大家聽到的聲音是斷斷續(xù)續(xù)的。我沒有被這個小問題干擾到，努力大聲地演講，等話筒一好就稍稍減弱聲音。這樣，大家并沒有聽出聲音有什么變化。不知不覺中，我的演講內(nèi)容結(jié)束了。這時候，輪到外教提問了。我走下舞臺，從一堆紙條里面任意抽了兩張，分別是banana和boy，我仔細(xì)看了一眼便作了回答。OK,我順利過關(guān)了，心情頓時輕松了不少。
接下來，開始聽其他選手演講。
我本以為這次參加演講的選手實(shí)力都很強(qiáng)，沒想到幾乎個個都緊張的不得了，影響了各自的實(shí)力發(fā)揮。這讓我懸著的心稍稍放了下來。

我懷著既期待又緊張的心情準(zhǔn)備，在練習(xí)的過程中，英語老師為了要我適應(yīng)計時鈴聲，控制好說完故事的時間，模擬了比賽鈴聲響起的各種突發(fā)狀況。 當(dāng)我第一次練習(xí)聽到催促的鈴聲，我心想：“天啊！超過時間會被評審扣分！”頓時，我難過得流下傷心的眼淚。老師頻頻安慰我，要我心平氣和熟悉比賽的氣氛。

On March 22 nd we had a reading competition in a high school. That day, I was very nervous about the competition. I thought and thought…..and I said to myself,Austin, don’t worry it will be fine. After a while, my mom took me to that high school.
When I got into the seat of the car, my stomach started to hurt, but I knew that sort of thing will happen all the time during a stressful event like a reading competition. Later, after a few hours had past, it was my turn to walk up to the stage and say my lines. But wait! I looked over and noticed the judge wasn't looking at me- it was if she didn't respect me! We learned how important eye contact is during our assembly.
After I finished, the guests gave me great praise. I thought I would have a good mark.Then came the time to give out the certificates. When the person read Frobel ElementaryI thought it was me…..but it was my classmate Cindy. She had received second place. Then they read the first prize and I was disappointed it wasn’t me. I was very sad…… but……
I must tell everyone in here, when you go to a competition win or lose you shouldn't care. You should care about whether or not you did your best. You need to ask yourself- Did you learn anything for entering this competition? Do you have the courage to read a story to a huge audience?

Then came the pistol shot③. At the sound of it, the first runners shot from their starting points. Many eyes turned to a thin sixteen-year-old girl named Helen who started very fast and became the first one. Soon the second runners already moving, grabbed ④ the sticks and raced on. Nora, the third runner had the stick and took the lead. Already running, Dinah reached for the stick. She was flying three or four steps ahead of the others. Dinah urged herself, “Faster! Faster!” We cheered for her, shouting at the top of our voice. Bit by bit, she pulled quite ahead. It was too late for the others to close the gap and we all sighed with relief. At the finishing line, Dinah was the first one that reached the end.
At that moment, nothing would have been more exciting. We laughed, shouted, and we were very proud of our heroines ⑤. We praised them for their good team work⑥.
When we at last received our certificate of award⑦, everyone in our class was smiling a happy smile. Though it was different from the champion of Olympic Games ⑧, we all thought that it was no less exciting.
